Brighton Milk

Cotteswold Dairy & Sustainability

Brighton Milk is supplied by our long-standing British dairy partner, Cotteswold Dairy, one of the UK’s most respected independent dairies — bringing you produce that tastes better, supports sustainable farming and reduces waste.

Industry trust & continuity
Within the wider British dairy network, Cotteswold Dairy has long been regarded as a trusted continuity supplier. When dairies of years past paused production for essential machinery deep cleaning, they were often relied upon to help maintain supply — without compromising quality.

That depth of trust and operational resilience sits quietly behind the milk delivered by Brighton Milk today.

Working with local farms
Cotteswold Dairy sources fresh British milk from farms within roughly 60 miles of their production site in Tewkesbury. Their conventional farms (around two-thirds of output) are largely within 50 miles — helping to reduce food miles where possible.

Farms are required to meet recognised standards (such as Red Tractor), with additional certification where applicable (for example, organic). These standards are audited to help maintain high levels of animal welfare and responsible environmental practices.

Sustainable transportation

• Electric milk floats have been used for doorstep delivery for decades — electric is used wherever possible.
• Modern refrigeration units improve efficiency compared with older alternatives.
• Returnable items (glass bottles, crates, cages, pallets) are recovered and reused where possible.
• Route planning tools help reduce unnecessary mileage.
• Drivers are trained to drive economically and efficiently.

Products & packaging
Milk has been delivered in reusable glass bottles for generations. Bottles are collected, washed, sterilised and reused multiple times before being recycled into new glass.

Where glass isn’t practical for some businesses, recyclable packaging options are used — with a focus on reducing single-use waste.

Waste reduction
Wherever possible, surplus or near-date products are redirected to prevent unnecessary waste, including donation routes where appropriate. Waste is separated to maximise recycling and reduce landfill impact.

Why this matters: choosing Brighton Milk supports responsibly sourced British milk, reusable glass packaging and a supply chain focused on reducing environmental impact.
